“Pumpkinhead” (** out of four) was a needless remake of the 1988 “cult classic” about a young boy (Bean Reid) whose brother dies and disappears and his very existence is removed and he then is haunted by the title creature. Good production values can’t enliven or enrich mediocre material. The pumpkin creature is creative but film is anything but scary. Pretty much on par with the original.
