“Takeout” (** out of four) was an overall unappetizing horror comedy about three workers (N’kone Mametja, Deoudone Pretorius, Daniel Janks) at a nowheresville diner who shudder when they realize that one of their customers is a brutal serial killer who will kill them all one-by-one unless they uncover his identity. Neither funny nor scary enough to give it any lasting flavor or filling but at least it’s directed with flair by Jem Gerrard and vibrantly shot by Trevor Michael Brown. Reminiscent in some ways of the ’80’s horror cult classic “Blood Diner” but lacks that film’s hard-edged conviction.
