“Turbulence” (***1/2 out of four) was a strikingly well-told melodrama about a married couple (Hera Hilmar and Jeremy Irvine) who go on a hot-air balloon ride but soon find themselves fighting for their lives while simultaneously old secrets begin to thrust themselves into the light that tests their trust, survival instincts, and love to the breaking point. Breathtaking and sensational widescreen cinematographer from Jaime Reynoso makes this an absolute must-see but film manages to also be harrowing and unnervingly tense at times. Both Hilmar and Irvine are first-rate and Kelsey Grammar has a key supporting role as the balloon operator.
